2019 Charter School Conference
November 14-15, 2019APS Rankin Professional Training Facility
720 Rankin Rd NE
Albuquerque, NM 87107
The Conference will feature two days of professional development for school leadership teams that will continue last year’s practice of having extended participant-focused sessions. Morning sessions will offer highly engaging best practice presentations by local and national charter school practitioners. Then, the afternoon program will offer deep study work sessions for schools with topics that collectively look to reflect on 20 years of New Mexico charter schools and blaze a path forward to define our future. Topics include refining our legislative platform, collectively creating documents that articulate our rich history, receiving feedback on priorities, alternative accountability and developing school-based advocacy plans. These sessions will be facilitated by state charter school experts and advocates. It will be tough to choose sessions, so please bring teams from your schools to participate in multiple sessions at one time! Governing board members are welcome but will not receive training credit for attending.
To allow Governing Board members the opportunity to attend the conference, we will no longer hold governing board training concurrently with the event. Instead, this year, we will bookend the conference with trainings the day before (Wednesday, November 13) and the day after (Saturday, November 16). Wednesday will feature an a la carte training mix; board members will be able to select individual training sessions to attend. Saturday will provide a full 8-hours of training in one comprehensive day-long session.
