Public Charter Schools of New Mexico provide several events to its members and the character school community in New Mexico at large. Learn how to translate reading science into student success through a structured literacy approach to foundational literacy instruction. At this event you will learn actionable instructional strategies to help your students unlock the alphabetic code using an explicit, systematic approach based on what we know about the reading brain.

 

Presenter Bio:

Shannon Bowles is an Education Consultant with Reading Horizons. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from BYU, an M.Ed. degree in Applied Digital Learning from Lamar University, and is TESOL certified. In addition to her 7 years of experience as an ESL and foundational English literacy teacher in the K-12 virtual classroom, Shannon also serves as a professional learning facilitator, instructional coach, and speaker at national conferences. Shannon routinely supports schools and districts with implementation planning, professional learning for staff, and mentoring in the edtech space. Her current position as an Education Consultant for Reading Horizons allows her to share her knowledge of explicit phonics instruction and her passion for learning with educators and district leaders across the country.
